Mosses on Trees

Mosses on Trees

The poplars along the top of the ridge next to the path support a wide range of different mosses.
Mosses are ‘non-vascular’ plants: unlike flowers and trees, they don’t have vessels in the stem to convey water to the top of the plant. They rely on absorbing water through their leaves. How alive they look may depend on whether it has rained recently.
