Oak Apples
Biorhiza pallida
Next to the red oak (Quercus rubra) is a native pedunculate oak (Quercus robur). Look for the ‘oak apples’ – plant galls made by a wasp (Biorhiza pallida) – on the lower branches of the tree.
Compare the leaves and the shape of the two trees.
