Natural range: Greece and Albania.

Exceptionally beautiful when in flower, covered with stout candles of pinkish-white flowers in May. Distinctive, spiky ‘conker’ fruits. Wood considered the most valuable in cabinet-making. This tree is a favourite with children, who collect the nuts to play the game of conkers.
