A hardy band of volunteers met on Saturday November 9th to install the notice board we had purchased recently. Two deep holes for the posts, two bags of postcrete, a quick check with the spirit level and there it was ready to provide news and information for the community. Lots of passers by said how pleased they were with the work we had done on the Green – especially the meadow which flowered all summer.
The notice board is made of recycled plastic which won’t rot and when its life is over can be recycled again into another useful product. We are grateful for the financial support of the Council’s Ward Community Fund which enabled us to buy the bench and noticeboard.
We were also joined by Stuart and friends from the Rotary club who between them planted 1000 crocus bulbs to add to the 2000 they planted last year. We hope the bulbs will start to produce a good supply of early pollen and nectar next Spring.
