Knighton Wild has been around for over three years now. In that time we have done a lot of things and achieved more than we could have hoped for.
- Knighton Ward has more wildlife records on NatureSpot than any other ward in the city.
- We have organised a series of events and talks including a very successful open wildlife gardens last year and a moth breakfast where we identified over 100 species in one night in Knighton.
- We have also built strong relationships with local organisations such as St Mary Magdalen church, South Knighton Community Events, local scouts and the city council.
- One of our most ambitious projects is Knighton Green where with the help of almost £5,000 from the Council we can improve the area for wildlife and for people.
We couldn’t do this without a team of volunteers especially those who serve on our committee. We want to continue to develop and extend our work for wildlife in Knighton. As we approach the AGM on 15th May we want to strengthen our committee with a couple more willing volunteers. We are particularly looking for someone who can help us with publicity and communications. But we also need people who can just muck in and make things happen.
If you think you might be interested in giving up two or three hours a month to help run Knighton Wild then do get in touch either by phone 07984 453924 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or come along to the AGM.
