Join us for a practical work session in St Mary’s Churchyard on Saturday 16th September 2017 from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon.
Leicester City Council will be cutting the grass in the wildflower areas this week, and we will go in on Saturday to rake away the cuttings so that they don’t form a thatch on top of the grass and suppress other plants. All the necessary equipment will be provided, and tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided as well.
If you plan to come along to the event, please let John Crookes know, so that he can get in touch if it needs to be cancelled or postponed: john.crookes@ntlworld.com. The event will go ahead unless the weather is really bad.
This will be the first of a series of activities over the autumn and winter months, organised by the Churchyard Working Group, to help maintain the churchyard for wildlife. Other activities will include hedge-laying and installing bird nest boxes and bee hotels.
