Mini-Bioblitz at Wash Brook Allotments – 3rd September 2017

Sunday 3rd September 2017, 11.00 am to 3.00 pm, Wash Brook Allotments, Welford Road

As part of the Royal Horicultural Society National Garden Scheme, the allotments will be open to the public from 11 am to 3 pm, Admission £3.  The allotments have a wildflower meadow, and Knighton Wild will be conducting a mini-Bioblitz to see what wildlife is present on the site, especially pollinators, including the area alongside the Wash Brook itself.  Join us to see what we can find.

The allotments include a wildflower meadow and a grassy area with fruit trees and young hazel to grow bean poles in future. There is the Wash Brook, where it is possible to see the occasional kingfisher, lined by trees and bushes as well as the hedgerows all around the site with lots of brambles – great plant for wildlife – plus a variety of crops that flower at different times of the year.  This is probably one of the best areas for wildlife in Knighton.
